Memorial Update: We’re Almost There!

Hello everyone, and happy fall!

We are thrilled to announce we are finally nearing the completion of construction for Major David Brodeur Memorial Square at Auburn High School! Check out the images below!

When we first started this journey in the late spring it seemed like it would be a lifetime before it was actually completed. We are happy to say the finishing touches are being applied at this very moment. The walls are built, the bricks are laid and the bronze is hung. It’s been a ton of work but also a true labor of love for everyone involved. We couldnt have done it without our amazing construction team or your generous donations to fund the project. So thanks so very much to all of you!

We would love for you to come down and participate in our dedication ceremony, which will be held on 10/19 at the rear entrance to Auburn High School. The ceremony kicks off at 12:00PM and will feature USAF Lt. General Dana T. Atkins (retired).

It is sure to be a very special tribute to a true American Hero, we hope you can join us!!

Memorial Dedication Details

Just over 2 years after the untimely passing of Major David L. Brodeur at Kabul Airport, his hometown community, friends, neighbors and businesses have rallied to create a permanent memorial in his honor. The Major David L. Brodeur Memorial Square is being finalized on the campus of Auburn High School and is slated for dedication on October 19, 2013 at 12:00P.M.

The effort to construct the plaza was initiated by the Major David Brodeur Memorial Foundation to perpetuate the memory of Major Brodeur and encourage excellence in leadership, service to community and academics. To date, the foundation has raised funding through philanthropic organizations, local business and individuals in order to provide grants and scholarships to Auburn High School students.

The dedication ceremony will include members of David’s family from Massachusetts and Colorado, colleagues from the Air Force and most notably, retired Lieutenant General Dana Atkins under whom Major Brodeur served as an executive officer. Lt. General Atkins is a highly decorated Air Force General who, prior to retirement, served as the Commander of Alaskan Command, U.S. Pacific Command; Commander, 11th Air Force, Pacific Air Forces; and Commander, Alaskan North American Defense Region, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska.

Timothy Morse, President of the Major David Brodeur Memorial Foundation noted, “The dedication of this memorial is a statement to all who made the ultimate sacrifice that we will never forget. David was liked by everyone he came in contact with. He was a leader, friend and brilliant Air Force Officer. This outdoor memorial plaza and classroom space will serve as an inspiration of those skills forever.”
